Quiet Your Mind Before Bed
Day 4: Quiet Your Mind Before Bed
It can be tough to go to sleep when your mind is racing. While you may not be able to get rid of your worries for good, you can learn to set them aside before bedtime. Many people find it helps to let go of their mental load by writing things down, either in a journal or a to-do list. Others prefer to say their fears out loud, which can stop the "what-ifs" swirling in their mind.

Relaxing your body also can help calm your mind. Yoga, muscle relaxation, and deep breathing are effective ways to slow your thoughts. Still, there will be nights when none of these techniques work and your brain just won't stop buzzing. In that case, the best approach is not to go to bed but to do something to relax until you feel tired. You'll spend less time in bed but more time asleep.

Tomorrow we'll look at food and drinks that can help or harm your sleep.
